Non-DOT drug testing services
A Non-DOT drug test is one given to a worker in an industry not regulated by the United States Department of Transportation (DOT). Non-DOT drug testing usually follows state-level regulations. These rules vary from state to state. Each employer can decide which employees they want to test, the type of drugs they will test for, the circumstances in which they will test, how often they will test and the consequences for testing positive or refusing to test. Based on their needs, the employer decides how to manage and run their drug testing program. This is specified in the company’s drug testing policy. Some states will give businesses workers’ compensation insurance premium credits if they employ and follow that state’s drug free workplace program requirements.
Some of the benefits of drug and alcohol testing would be to reduce workplace injuries, improve productivity, establish safe, healthy work environments and to show employees that the employer cares about the employees’ health. Employers choose to test urine, oral fluid, hair, or a combination of the three after taking into account applicable legal regulations and considerations.
