Anyone who is listed as a “safety-sensitive” employee under DOT regulations is liable for DOT drug and alcohol testing. A worker who is concerned about their personal safety as well as the safety of others is said to be safety-sensitive.
A Non-DOT drug test is one given to a worker in an industry not regulated by the United States Department of Transportation (DOT). The DOT regulates drug testing for pilots, truck drivers, and train conductors.
Being an owner-operator can present numerous challenges. Instead of having a team to assist you,
you’re mostly on your own to get things done, including remaining DOT compliant.
Drug testing is a deterrent and prevention method that is frequently used as part of a comprehensive drug-free workplace program. Any drug-testing program in the workplace, federal or non-federal, must follow local, state, and federal laws.
Call us and we’ll be there for you, whether your employees are in office buildings, manufacturing facilities,
or remote locations and construction sites.
The “Drug Free Workplace” is a more recent term and concept introduced by the Federal government’s policy for its employees in 1986 and promulgated by the President’s Drug Advisory Council in the private sector.
